Snakes

From past experience of feeding corn snakes, I’ve never been asked to handle one as they need a couple of days to digest each meal.  I check the vivarium temperatures, change the water, defrost a mouse & put it into their vivarium.  I remove any shed skin & faeces.  I do wear disposable gloves whilst completing these tasks.  I carry out the jobs listed in the “about your home” section.

Bearded Dragons

On these visits I check that your beardie is ok.  I check the temperatures of the vivarium – both the cold end & the warm end.  I change the water & remove any faeces.  I put out greens/leaves & whichever live feed you use – locusts or crickets.  I dust the live food before serving – in calcium powder one day then vitamin powder the next day.  I feed the live food the same greens as your beardie too.  I remove any shed skin & I can spray mist your beardie (a debatable topic – if you want me to I can!). As with snakes, I wear disposable gloves whilst completing these tasks.  I complete the items listed in the “about your home” section.

Tarantulas

My complete irrational & overwhelming phobia of spiders renders me unavailable I’m afraid!  I’m sure they are your pride & joy but unfortunately I’m unable to look after them.  I’ve tried to overcome my fear by agreeing to care for a snake & on the next table housed a tarantula.  As my client was only away for two days, she promised to put a cover over the glass so I could care for the snake without seeing the tarantula.  Alas, no cover & seeing him that close made my fear worse!

The Pets I Care For

Around your home

For all different types of pets I ensure your home is secure & carry out the following for you:

  • I draw curtains, switch lights on/off & move post/junk mail out of sight.
  • I’m very careful ensuring all doors are locked & alarms are set.
  • I wheel bin/s out & back again.
  • I water any plants – both indoor & outdoor.

These small things really do help in making your home appear lived in.  I’ve had a client where I found a puddle of water on the kitchen floor.  I found there was a leak under the sink & as I was able to fix it she was very grateful.  Little things like this are peace of mind for you whilst you are away.
